Conversation about consular & visa (Role play)


Situation I: An American citizen has been murdered. He has a wife in Thailand but his family wants to have his ashes urn returned to the U.S. A consul is conversing with a consular assistant.

His wife: Hello
Brother: Hello, how are you? Everything is okay??
His wife: I felt better than yesterday. I still regret but it's gone.
Brother: At least, you feel better than yesterday.
His wife: Thanks for the encouragement to me. And you keep fighting. Is there anything can I help you?
Brother: Yes. If I will beg you send brother’s ashes urn returned to the United States. Can you give me?
His wife: Yes, what should I do?
Brother: You must have the consent letter from the deceased’s spouse for the repatriation process.
His wife: Sure. What else?
Brother: And the original certified affidavit from the Thai immigration and the Thai customs.
His wife: But I don’t know about affidavit.
Brother: Umm. Affidavit is a written statement confirmed by affirmation.
His wife: So, that means I prepare document about the consent letter from me and the original certified affidavit from the immigration and the customs, rights?
Brother: Sure.
His wife: OK, I’ll get back to you as soon as I get all the required information.
Brother: OK. Other issues, I will deal with myself. Thank you very much.
His wife: My pleasure. Miss you
Brother: Miss you, too.

Situation II: A 20-year-old Thai applicant is applying for tourist visa. He plans to go to the U.S with his friends.

Visa assistant: Hello.
Client: Hello.
Visa assistant: Mister Wongsathorn rights?
Client: Yes.
Visa assistant: Why do you want to go to the U.S?
Client: I plan to take a 1 month vacation.
Visa assistant: Wow, where will you go to?
Client: I will go to San Francisco and San Diego of California maybe I will go to Las Vegas of Nevada.
Visa assistant: You are going to visit many places. How much expense do you expect    from this trip?
Client: I will spend about 6,000 dollars. This is the estimated cost I calculated.
Visa assistant: Umm. Who are your supporters?
Client: My parents.
Visa assistant: What does they do?
Client: Father is an employee at SCG Company. And mother is a teacher at Kasetsart University Laboratory School.
Visa assistant: Let's see the statement of them.
Client: Here it is.
Visa assistant: Who will you go with?
Client: With two friends.
Visa assistant: Have you booked airline tickets?
Client: Reserved. This is a proof of reservation.
Visa assistant: Umm. Where do you stay in the US?
Client: I will stay at hotel.
Visa assistant: Do you have relatives or family in the US?
Client: No.
Visa assistant: Where have you been before?
Client: Japan, South Korea, and Australia.
Visa assistant: Will you come back to Thailand after you visit?
Client: Sure!!
Visa assistant: How can you assure me that you will come back?
Client: I have to go back to the university. And come back to my parents.
Visa assistant: OK. You done. Have a nice trip.
Client: Thank you very much.
